GO GAUCHOS!!!
Hello, my name is Charles Sudduth and I am the new Head Coach for the Freshman Boys' Basketball Team. I am a 20+ years employee for the Richmond Police Department, as an Assistant Property & Evidence Technician and Police Jailer.
I am also a Licensed & Ordained Minister and member at a local church in the City of Oakland.
I am a 1982 graduate of El Cerrito High School. I played and competed 3 1/2 years of high school basketball, playing as the speedy point guard. I was given the nickname "Iron Lungs" by the team, because of my non-stop 4th quarter runnin' you tired and very strong defense. I was voted twice "Most Improved" in my freshman and junior years.
In 1991, I gave and directed an 8-Team Christian Basketball Elimination Tournament at Richmond High School. I have been an assistant basketball coach for two years, for the Golden State Junior Warriors, for the San Leandro Parks and Recreation Department.
The last twenty years, I have mentored and trained many young men and women, whom have received scholarships and have gone to play at colleges such as: Cal Berkeley, Hayward State, Wichita State, Sacramento State, University of Texas Permian Basin and several of our East Bay Junior Colleges.
I always believe in helping young people, both academically and athletically. But more importantly, I believe in helping them grown into mature young adults after basketball. I believe in being respectful on and off the court. I believe in old tradition with a hint of new school. I believe in El Cerrito.
